The SchoolHouse Lofts is an award-winning loft conversion in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood. Reconstructed by Empire Communities and Fovere Capital Management, this building was transformed from a private school into 19 unique residences. They feature 10” ceilings, open concept design and large, bright windows. The building also provides underground parking, lockers, professional security and a landscaped courtyard.
The units, which range in size from 1032 to 2092 sq. ft., were designed by 3rd Uncle. In 2005, 3rd Uncle won Canada’s Designer of the Year award for their work on The SchoolHouse Lofts. I’ve included this building on SelectCondos because I am also impressed with 3rd Uncle’s degree of design excellence. They have managed to take an historic structure, from 1915, and turn it into modern one-of-a-kind spaces.
It would be difficult to find another residence that could compete with SchoolHouse Lofts. In fact, this building is one of the only hard lofts in the entire Annex district. Located at 391 Brunswick Avenue, these lofts are landmarks in the Bathurst and Bloor area.
Moments away from both the Bathurst and the Spadina subway station, 391 Brunswick Avenue is a great address for true lovers of Toronto’s downtown culture. You’ll have access to a wide range of restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques and markets. Explore your neighbourhood and you will find everything from record stores to roti shops and, of course, the formidable Honest Ed’s.
