Completed in 2001, the Ideal Lofts is a 9 storey building in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood. Above the 5th floor, the units are two levels and boast 9.6” ceilings. These penthouse suites have spacious terraces on the south side and Juliette balconies on the north side. The other units are single level with 9” ceilings.
Built by Context Developments, this building houses 68 newly constructed lofts, aka “soft lofts”. Inspired by factory/warehouse conversions, these units have open concept layouts with an impressive minimalist aesthetic. Ranging in size from 550 to 1400+ sq. ft., the Ideal Lofts have engineered hardwood floors and concrete ceilings.
Ideal Lofts is another design masterpiece by the award-winning Architects Alliance. I’ve included many of their projects on this website because they are consistently innovative and stunning. A glimpse into their portfolio reveals MOZO Modern Living Zone, Pure Spirit Condominiums and Radio City.
There is not much in the way of amenities at Ideal Lofts. The building has a security system and a landscaped rooftop patio, but that’s it. Luckily, this lack of amenities keeps the maintenance fees down. Free from hefty monthly bills, residents at Ideal Lofts have the freedom to enjoy their lively neighbourhood full of restaurants, cafes, boutiques and markets—with an Italian flair, of course. Other neighbourhoods in the area include The Annex, Queen Street West and Kensington Market.
